Account Manager Overview
The Account Manager is a full-time, salaried position within our strategic marketing and communications consultancy. This position serves primarily as an account and project manager for assigned clients in partnership with company’s senior consultants providing exceptional marketing and communications planning and implementation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing communications, project management, as well as experience in business relationship management and community engagement.
This position requires exceptional written and verbal communications skills, a high level of attention to detail, knowledge of business marketing principles and the ability use those skills to create and implement innovative and purpose-centered results for our clients and company.
This position will share responsibility of business development and ensure O’Connor Connective is an active and engaged member of the Northeast Wisconsin community. The Account Manager will work closely with others on the team to ensure client projects are completed on time and on budget.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Account Management (75%)
- Work closely with various consultants to manage and document project details, deliverables and client requests.
- Support daily communication with assigned clients to ensure strong relationships and outcomes.
- Attend client meetings.
- Utilize a project management system to manage projects from conception to completion.
- In partnership with consultants and creative team, ensure creative development including copy, design, photography, videography for all mediums including digital, is on brand and on message.
- Work closely with the President and Production Manager to prioritize and allocate team and contractor resources, assign work, monitor progress, ensure seamless execution and measuring results to ensure the best allocation of resources and alignment with organizational goals and client priorities.
- Organize and facilitate client meetings, planning sessions and retreats.
- Develop project estimates in collaboration with consultants and Production Director, and present to client.
Marketing Communication Strategy and Implementation (25%)
- Contribute to positioning, marketing and campaign strategies that will drive client goals and objectives, including but not limited to areas of marketing communication and fundraising.
- Work with senior consultants to develop campaign plans, identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that support assessment and progress toward client goals and objectives.
- Work with others on the team to determine distribution and creative approaches.
- Conduct organizational and marketing/communications audits.
- Collaborate to complete market research projects for clients which may include feasibility studies, focus groups, surveys and analysis with the team and/or partners.
- Regularly assess and report on the effectiveness of communication methods using a variety of metrics and data sources. Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Research issues, trends and topics of client interest and industry advancements.
- Edit and proofread client deliverables.
- Contribute to O’Connor Connective’s creative culture as a hands-on collaborator who dives in to help the team, as needed, and based on skillset.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration, advertising, public relations or journalism. If a graduate from another discipline, experience in marketing or agency client/project management.
Experience and Credentials
- 7-9 years of formal marketing, communications, advertising or public relations experience, preferably in an agency setting.
- 5 years of project management experience serving multiple clients.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional planning, project management and coordination skills.
- Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines and prioritize tasks and assignments.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal communication skills, including abilities in presentation, facilitation and front-facing client communication.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of diverse personalities.
- Strong ability to think creatively, problem solve, set priorities and work diplomatically under pressure.
- Professional presence and capacity to represent O’Connor Connective directly with clients, partners and community.
- Experience in communicating to various audiences, industries and organizational structures.
- Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and succinctly for various mediums. Fluency in AP style desired.
- Experience with or understanding of marketing theory/strategy.
- Broadbased understanding of communication mediums including print, email and digital marketing.
- Experience with developing marketing budgets and managing costs.
- Knowledge of industry trends, market research and measurement techniques.
- Ability to demonstrate return on investment (ROI) to the client through metrics and reporting.
- Knowledge of web-based project management and tracking systems.
- Knowledge of design production software and communications processes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office365/Teams and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions expeditiously.

Working Conditions
Regular work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This position is an in-office role and is eligible to work from home up to one day per week. Approval of a work-from-home day and schedule is at the discretion of the supervisor to ensure that the needs of the organization and clients are met. Attendance at occasional evening events is required. Weekends are generally not required. Semi-regular travel to and from client locations is expected. This position is generally not expected to travel beyond a day’s drive.
