Web Developer/Designer Overview

Reports to VP Communications & Digital Services

The Web Developer/Designer is an important position within our strategic marketing and communications consultancy. This position requires exceptional digital development skills, including building and designing websites as well as generation of digital analytics strategy to drive innovative and purpose-centered results for our clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic web development and design for corporate and nonprofit branding and marketing.

Position Description

The Web Developer/Designer is a full-time, in-office position serving assigned clients, ensuring a seamless blend of technical expertise with creative design capabilities for digital and web projects. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing web solutions, while also creating visually appealing designs that enhance user experience across various digital platforms while adhering to our clients’ branding.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Web & Digital Strategy (70%)

  • Design and develop websites for optimal user experience, Google rankings, responsive design, and accessibility
  • Manage web content updates
  • Modify, test and optimize design for experience and performance
  • Conduct audits, analytics and assessments of digital strategies and performance
  • Generate insights reports and modify recommended actions accordingly
  • Develop in partnership with OCC client teams providing input on strategic plans, budgets and approaches for implementation
  • Identify opportunities for SEO performance enhancements
  • Identify and develop partnerships with web support organizations including backend programmers, web hosting firms and others

Design (30%)

  • Design visually engaging user interfaces, incorporating best practices in user experience design, and information architecture
  • Maintain brand consistency while creating visually appealing graphics, illustrations and icons for various digital platforms and service as occasional back-up for print formats
  • Support the design and implementation of email marketing campaigns
  • Support the design and implementation of social media campaigns
  • Stay updated on design trends, tools and techniques to continuously improve design quality

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience in web development, visual design and digital strategy
  • Experience in marketing firm and/or B2B space highly preferred
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new tools quickly
  • Experience with WordPress, Elementor and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in SEO techniques and tools
  • Familiarity with website forms and other third-party tools
  • Experience using Google Analytics (GA4)
  • Understanding of PCC and digital ads
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Collaborate and work within a team environment, respecting the skills and contributions of various members
  • Strong ability to think creatively, problem solve, set priorities and work under pressure.
  • Experience using Office 365/Teams software programs and other project management software tools
